MyCMI Login Information
Computer Account– Every computer on campus requires a computer login account. The computer account is created and provided by the Information Technology Department. The student account is usually composed of the First letter of your name, and the last name, but you will receive your official login name when you confirm it to the IT Department.
Email Address– IT Department provides an email address to every enrolled student in the college. Your email address will provide access to your Learning Management System (Moodle), Office 365, and other Student Apps used on campus.
Quick Steps to Account Set-up
- Go to www.gmail.com
- Type the username (your email address) and temporary password provided by the ITD, then click next.
- You will prompt to change your password, choose the password at least 8 characters with Alpha and numeric combination.
- To sign out, on the top-right corner of the page, locate the circle that has your first initial. To sign out, click the circle and select sign out.
Student Portal (SIS)– The student portal enables the student to register online, edit profiles, view student grades, and display enrolled courses and academic calendars. To sign-in, specify the username (Student ID), and temporary password provided by the IT Department.
Learning Management System (Moodle)– Moodle is a Learning Platform or course management system (CMS) – a free Open Source software package designed to help educators create effective online. All-in-one learning platform Moodle provides the most flexible tool-set to support both blended learning and 100% online courses. Configure Moodle by enabling or disabling core features, and easily integrate everything needed for a course using its complete range of built-in features, including external collaborative tools such as forums, wikis, chats, and blogs.
Student WiFi Access– All students are allowed to use wireless connectivity on campuses and at DE Centers using a voucher provided by the IT department. Student is required to register their Mobile & other computing devices to the IT Department to get the wireless voucher. The voucher is good for one semester.
Student Responsibilities
CMI has created the policy to maximize the benefits of its computer resources and minimize potential liability. All computer users are obligated to use these resources responsibly, professionally, ethically, and lawfully. Students are given access to the College’s computer network to assisting performing job or academic tasks. Users must not present false identification or misleading information to gain access to computing resources or use computing resources for which they are not authorized. The computer system belongs to CMI and should be used for CMI business or academic purposes. The system may not be used for personal business. See the IT Policies and Procedures for more specific information.
Students are responsible for the following:
- After using the computer, Log out when done. You are responsible for logging out of your MyCMI account.
- Keep your password secure and safe. Do not share it with fellow students or with anyone. If you think your account was compromised, report immediately to the IT Department.
- When you are no longer active student, your MyCMI account will become unavailable one year after you are no longer registered as a student. Transfer any data you wish to keep to your personal account and data storage.
- No copyrighted or otherwise illegal materials: You are responsible for the content of the files in your personal store and drives. (Be aware that installing P2P program and downloading other copyrighted materials is illegal.)
Student Computer Labs Rules an Regulations
The primary purpose of CMI student lab facilities is for completion of class assignments requiring the use of college-owned software and hardware. Non-academic uses of college-owned hardware, software, and network bandwidth will be accommodated whenever possible in the student lab facilities. IT staff members (or official designees) have the right to limit use of hardware and bandwidth for nonacademic purposes.
Lab Hours– Operating hours for student facilities will be posted. The IT Department reserves the right to close the facilities with little or no notice for repair purposes. Hours vary during vacation periods, summer sessions, and during midterm recesses (and will be posted).
Food, Drink, and Drugs–Food, drink, smoking, and betel nut are not allowed in computing facilities. Anyone found with food or drink will be asked to dispose of it or leave the facility.
Noise– Noise and loud talking are to be kept to a minimum in order to avoid disturbing others. Disruptive individuals will be asked to leave the computing facility.
Internet Access– The IT department will make every effort to provide Internet access to users searching academic resources in the student lab facilities. Recreational use of the facilities may be limited during peak usage times. Additional computer terminals are provided in the college library and other hours of access may be posted on other location for students who wish to access Internet services during regular business hours.
PC Games– PC games are generally not allowed in the student lab facilities. Some game-designated computers may be made available in student recreation areas.
