Traditional hut building was also initiated as part of promoting traditional skill building. A local master hut builder was involved with our students teaching the traditional ways of procuring materials, preparation and the actual building technique of the huts. The first hut was built in the vicinity of the community basketball court. It has been of great use for the community and high school students use it for socializing and a place of unwind. We plan to build more traditional huts around the island in collaboration with the high school students with an aim to revitalize the traditional skill.
