The College of the Marshall Island’s new maritime vocational courses Certificate of Completion in Forming Part of a Navigational Watch and Certificate of Completion in Forming Part of an Engine Room Watch just started the first day of instruction last week August 14, 2023. This is for the Fall Semester 2023. We managed to recruit 24 students. The cohort consist of 3 females and 21 male students. Some of our stakeholders, the Marshall Islands Shipping Corporation (MISC) encouraged 2 of their male sailors to join the program. We are hoping that our other stakeholders will give that same opportunity to their staff working on ships. The College of the Marshall Islands is very happy to help the government and private sector shipping industry to develop their sailors. If they want to invest in their sailors we can get them through our courses and they will become competent sailors.
