Computer Level 5

ICS 050 - Computer Level 5

Provides an introduction to basic data processing and use of internet-based resources. Includes hands-on approach to using basic computer application, word processing and electronic presentation to support learning across classes.

Course Outcomes

A. General Learning Outcomes, the student will:

  • Recognize internet-based software
  • Share and organize information via software
  • Apply software resources in internet searches to support learning objectives across classes
  • Create electronic documents

B. Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Show familiarity in internet-based software and use
  • Use internet-based productivity tools to organize information, file management and communication
  • Apply internet research tools, techniques and web-etiquette in basic online research
  • Demonstrate fundamental skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and in presentation and multimedia,

Computer Level 4

ICS 040 - Computer Level 4

Provides an introduction to basic computer vocabulary and use. Offers lessons in keyboarding skills, file management, electronic communications and the use of virtual learning classrooms. Emphasizes on using basic computing resources to support learning across courses.

A. General Learning Outcomes, the student will: 

  • Recognize computer terminology
  • Keyboard with speed and accuracy
  • Organize information via software
  • Create electronic documents

B. Student Learning Outcomes 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate familiarity in computer vocabulary and use.
  • Type 20 or more adjusted words and numbers per minute.
  • Use computer software to organize information and for communication
  • Develop electronic documents.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Review the modern economics from national and global perspectives.
  • Explore the physical and cultural landscape.

SOC 040 - Social Studies Level 4

Introduces students to Global Connections with World History and Political Systems and Economics in the US.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to;

  • Discuss various government systems and international organization with an overview of relations among the nations of the world.
  • Explain the economic concepts and the roles of individuals, business and government in economics.
  • Explore major economic events of the past and relate them to today’s economy

Social Studies Level 3

SOC 030 - Social Studies Level 3

Introduces students to United States History and Civic that demonstrates how the US Government is structured and the political events that took place from the 1930s.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe government at the local, state, and national levels and the responsibilities of citizenship
  • Explore events from time of the early settlers through the 1930s
  • Describe the political, social and economic events from the 1940s to the current day.

Science Level 5

SCI 050 - Science Level 5

Introduces students to fundamentals of earth and space science that provides an overview of geology, oceanography and meteorology.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify the different chemical properties of matter, atoms, compounds and molecules, chemical reactions, solutions, organic chemistry and chemical equations. (ABE Knowledge and meaning of scientific theories)

Introduces the fundamentals of physics and chemistry that includes evolution, energy, work, motion and forces and chemical properties.

SCI 030 - Science Level 3

Introduces the human body systems and health, life functions and energy intake, ecosystems and foundations of life.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, student will be able to:

  • Describe the human body systems and how these systems interact with emphasis on health and disease (ABE Knowledge and meaning of scientific theories)
  • Describe flowering plants and the energy producing processes of cellular respiration and fermentation (ABE Knowledge and meaning of scientific theories)

Math Level 5

MATH 050 - Math Level 5 (Beginning Algebra II)

The course reinforces understanding of basic algebraic properties and problem solving skills. It covers the topics on graphing linear equation equations in two variables, linear equations in two variables, polynomial operations and factoring polynomials.

SLOs – Upon completion of this course, student will be able to:

  • Graph linear equations in two variables. (ABE Knowledge and meaning of mathematical concepts)
  • Perform basic polynomial operations. (ABE Knowledge and meaning of mathematical concepts)

MATH 040 - Math Level 4 (Beginning Algebra I)

This course establishes a foundation in elementary Algebra. Topics include real numbers, algebraic expressions and linear equations and inequalities in one variable.
