Provide Easy Virtual Classrooms With DTEN & Zoom

The College of the Marshall is vetting new Video Conferencing hardware solutions that involve high performance, durability, seamless connectivity, and a user-friendly experience. The cost is also a critical factor in making a decision. When the college opened the centers on the outer island a few years back, the Polycom system was the video conferencing equipment used to deliver the online classes. The college spent over a hundred thousand to deploy Polycom equipment funded under the grant to the centers and the main campus. Over time, the equipment becomes obsolete, and new technologies emerge. Most of the classrooms and even conference rooms did not have standard technology for video conferencing, e-whiteboard, or any of those types of interactive collaboration tools.

The IT Department did a lot of research on the new technology to replace the obsolete video conferencing equipment. This is where Zoom technology comes in. At first, the zoom software-based technology was set up and installed using different hardware devices. Although it is working well, it requires a complex setup and high staff maintenance to operate. The IT Department’s mission is to provide the highest quality information technology solutions most cost-effectively. The IT Department did a trial test of the DTEN technology.

DTEN is a combination technology of Zoom application and Hardware devices. We initially purchased two DTEN dual screens 55” units deployed and installed in the Business Studies Computer lab/classroom and an Education classroom. DTEN delivered an all-in-one, simple, user friendly solution. The ability to bring unified communications solutions that create an interactive classroom environment. One system that integrates all tools the faculty needs inside the classroom.
