Situated within the College of the Marshall Islands, Land of Danger is a cross-disciplinary media project. Building upon the example of creator-owned comic titles, Land of Danger is intended to serve as a new model of community-owned intellectual property, in which Marshallese creative writers and artists can contribute to building a narrative universe of their own.
The premier issue of Land of Danger introduces Alex Ikari, a young woman who, in one evening as a teen, learns of her unique mutation caused by exposure to radioactivity, which provides her with the power to make changes for the better of the world around her.
Land of Danger provides a creative platform for Marshallese creatives to populate a world of characters based upon relatable experiences and add resolution to a world without boundaries.
Issue #1 will be available for pre-order through Kickstarter, with a a campaign set to launch in the coming days.
For future publications and Land of Danger material, any students interested in participating in developing stories within the alternate universe of the comic are welcome to contact Andrew Irvin, the project facilitator, in order to express interest and discuss development concepts – andrew@lonecubproductions.com.
