The Nuclear Institute was established by CMI in 1997 to promote research and public understanding on the history of nuclear weapons and their cultural and diplomatic effects, including the post-World War II U.S. nuclear testing program in the Marshall Islands. The Institute is currently located in the main CMI administration building.
